City of Springfield Aquatics Division Offering Lifeguard Training Course in February

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Parks Director Patrick Sullivan, and Aquatics Director Joseph Federico are pleased to announce that this year the city’s February lifeguard training course is free for Springfield Public Schools students.

The City of Springfield’s Aquatics Division announced today that they will be offering a Lifeguard Training Course during February school vacation week at Milton Bradley School, 22 Mulberry Street, Springfield, MA 01105.  Pre-registration is required and space is limited.

Mayor Sarno states, “We are thrilled to be able to offer this lifeguard training course for free to our Springfield Public Schools students during their school vacation week. Getting trained and certified early in the year can lead to great summer job opportunities as a certified lifeguard. I encourage our Springfield Public Schools students to explore this opportunity. Thank you to our dedicated Aquatics team for their continued efforts throughout the year to provide safe, healthy, and fun aquatics facilities and programs.”

There will be a pre-course skills test on Wednesday, February 14, 2023 at 5:30 pm.  The lifeguard training course will run Tuesday, February 20th through Friday, February 23, 2024 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Attendance at and full participation in all sessions is required.
