Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Spirit of Springfield President Judy Matt and her dedicated team, MassMutual and all of our sponsors and supporters for working together to once again put on our beloved Star Spangled Springfield for our residents. This 4th of July fireworks display shows the resiliency, hope, faith, and strength of our residents and business community of Springfield. Again, many thanks to the Judy Matt, all our generous benefactors, especially MassMutual and my City Departments, for making this family-friendly event a wonderful and uplifting occasion.”
Star Spangled Springfield, sponsored by MassMutual, will be held in Riverfront Park from 6pm to 10pm on Monday, July 4, 2022. From 6pm to 8pm, there will be face painters, balloon artists, and a Massachusetts Army National Guard ball toss. At 7pm, there will be welcoming remarks with the National Anthem performed by Vanessa Ford. Union Jack, a 60’s music British tribute band sponsored by TD Bank, will take to the stage at 7:15pm. At 9:30pm, all eyes will be on the skies as Fireworks by Grucci brings their pyrotechnic wizardry to Springfield. The fireworks will dance to music broadcast on Mix 93.1FM. Food and beverages will be available in the park from 6pm to 9:30pm. They include Elegant Affairs and Batch Ice Cream.
“MassMutual is proud to once again sponsor Star Spangled Springfield,” said Dennis Duquette, Head of Community Responsibility at MassMutual. “It’s great to be a part of this world class event, bringing the community and families from across the region together to enjoy this wonderful celebration of our nation’s birthday.”

The Spirit of Springfield is looking forward to welcoming two special guests to the event who are sailors representing the USS Massachusetts.
For the public’s safety, officials will be enforcing no alcohol, no smoking, no pets, no bicycles, no skateboards, no roller blades, no drones, no sparklers, and no fireworks in and around Riverfront Park.

Formed in 1979, Union Jack was one of Western Mass’ original tribute bands. After years of performing with other bands, Union Jack’s members reformed in 2002.
