February 25, 2010 – Members of the Springfield City Council will participate in a strategic planning retreat on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at the Good Life Center, 2nd Floor, 1600 East Columbus Avenue. The retreat commences at 8:00 a.m., with opening remarks from Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and City Councilor Tim Allen. (Attached is a formal agenda for the retreat).
The purpose of the retreat is to further develop the City Council’s agenda and action plan to support key areas of the City that coincide with Mayor Sarno’s top 5 priorities for the City (public safety, education, job creation and retention, financial management and neighborhoods.) City Councilors Tim Allen and Mike Fenton, in collaboration with Mayor Sarno and Chief Administrative and Financial Officer Lee Erdmann, have invited 4 City department heads to participate in the discussions.
Mayor Sarno stated that “these ongoing collaborative sessions are part of my administration’s ongoing efforts designed to have city government work more effectively to advance the City’s strategic priorities so that the residents of Springfield benefit.” “I thank City Councilors Tim Allen and Mike Fenton for coordinating this retreat and look forward to sharing ideas with the city councilors in attendance,” stated Sarno.
City Councilor Michael Fenton stated “this meeting is intended to help Springfield's leaders communicate with each other in order to avoid conflict and foster development.”
