Mayor Sarno to attend Forest Park Civic Association Informational Meeting on the “X” Intersection Reconstruction Project

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Department of Public Works Director (DPW) Director Chris Cignoli, and City Forester Alex Sherman will join with the Forest Park Civic Association (FPCA) on Tuesday evening for an Informational Meeting on the “X” Intersection Reconstruction Project. The state Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is the lead agency working on the reconstruction of Sumner Avenue at Dickinson Street and Belmont Avenue (The “X”) in Springfield, MA.

The event on Tuesday, hosted by the FPCA is open to all and will be held at 52Sumner (the former Faith Church) at 52 Sumner Ave, Springfield, MA 01108. Discussions will include project plans, what changes are being made to better accommodate pedestrians, bicycles, and cars, and how MassDOT’s construction schedule is likely to affect traffic and businesses beginning this spring.

For Tuesday’s meeting, attendees are encouraged to use the front Sumner Avenue entrance, with parking available across the street at the Sumner Avenue School/the old “Friendly’s Ice Cream”. Access for people with mobility challenges is available through the rear of the building, with handicapped parking available in the lot behind 52Sumner, off of Fort Pleasant Avenue.
