Mayor Sarno – “Happy Birthday to Doctor Seuss!”
Mayor Sarno states, “This weekend, we celebrate National Read Across America and Springfield’s own Dr. Seuss – Theodor Geisel (1904-1991) on what would have been his 121st birthday – a time to recognize the power of literacy to inspire young minds. As Dr, Seuss himself said, ‘“the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!”’ Why not celebrate his birthday by having a wonderful visit to our very own, the one and only in the world Dr. Seuss Museum and Sculpture Garden. Another great way to celebrate is by reading a book and sharing your love of reading with others.”
P.S. “As you may know, Dr. Seuss was heavily inspired by our Springfield’s beloved Forest Park! Join us on Saturday for our Forest Park Fabulous February Event, free fun for the whole family, and a chance to explore the Park and check out the new Dr. Seuss sculpture at the renovated Monkey House.”
P.P.S. “Don’t forget, you can now also register in MA for a Cat in the Hat License Plate with proceeds from the plates supporting the Springfield Museums’ mission to promote literacy and learning.”
