Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief of Staff Bill Baker welcomed Olen Bielski and Ken Lemanski from the Polish Center of Discovery & Learning (PCDL) along with Aneta Kwiatowska PhD, and their guest from Poland, Krzysztof Szczesny, who leads humanitarian efforts in Poland.
The The Polish Center of Discovery and Learning joined to sponsor a special ceremony at the state house this week. The event, "Neighbors in Unity," exemplifies the heroic efforts of the citizens of Poland aiding the Ukrainians over the past three years. The "Neighbors in Unity" exhibit, which is expected to become a New England wide exhibition at various colleges, universities, libraries and museums, provides a visual journey through the Russian invasion of Ukraine and focuses on powerful story of unity and resilience, honoring those who saw the need and acted without hesitation.
Mayor Sarno states, “Thank you to our friends and representatives from the PCDL for coming to visit and introduce us to Mr. Krzysztof Szczesny and the important work he is doing toward peace and human rights. Our Polish-American community are a proud and vibrant people that represents the beautiful mosaic that is our Springfield community. I want to thank PCDL -Director of Business Development Olen A.
