Mayor Sarno joins as KeyBank grants $150,000 to the Springfield Rescue Mission for Workforce Development Outreach Program

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with Executive Director of the Springfield Rescue Mission Kevin Ramsdell, Market President of KeyBank Matthew Hummel, and city and state officials on Wednesday afternoon as KeyBank presented a $150,000 grant to the Springfield Rescue Mission’s Workforce Development Outreach program. The program matches Springfield Rescue Mission residents with potential employers, while providing training and support to the residents to become effective, retainable employees.

Mayor Sarno states, “A special thank you to CEO Kevin Ramsdell, and his wife Chief of Staff Sabra Ramsdell, and all the staff over at Springfield Rescue Mission, for all the hard work you do for our community here in Springfield. Additionally, thank you to the KeyBank Foundation for helping to fund this initiative. Not only ‘healing the soul,’ but just as important, empowering those of us in need to provide for oneself, our families, and our community. This program is monumental in helping individuals rebuild a life for themselves. With the efforts of Springfield Rescue Mission’s Workforce Development Outreach program, and the grant, funded by the KeyBank Foundation, individuals who are in the program are going to be set up for success in being effective and retainable employees.”

Also in attendance was City Councilor Melvin Edwards, State Representative Carlos Gonzalez, Lamari Jackson on behalf of State Senator Adam Gomez, and Robin Frechette on behalf of State Representative Brian Ashe.

The Springfield Rescue Mission stands as Massachusetts’ oldest homeless shelter and rehabilitation initiative, ranking fifth in the nation. Learn how to contribute: https://springfieldrescuemission.org/ways-to-give/
