Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with Springfield resident and dancer Karielys Rivera who is once again representing Team USA at the International Dance Organization (IDO) Championships in Kielce, Poland in November 2024. Karielys and three other Springfield Natives: Madisyn Vazquez, Thea Cosgrove, and Paige Bordeau, will be the only Western Massachusetts competitors at the IDO World Championships competition. All four dancers practice at Dazzle Studio of Dance in Agawam.
In 2019, at age 11, Karielys Rivera represented the United States of America at the IDO World Hip Hop Championships in Bremerhaven, Germany. The Championship hosted dancers from over 30 countries and Karielys was the only member of Team USA from Western Massachusetts. Now she will return with three of her Western Mass teammates to Poland to compete in this year’s IDO World Championships of Dance and Acrobatics.
Support from her family and the community was essential to Karielys’ being able to travel to Europe to compete in 2019. Ms. Rivera and her teammates are again seeking support from the community to make their world championship dreams possible.
If you are interested in supporting the dancers, please see the fundraising event flyer at the end of this post.
