Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Parks, Buildings, and Recreation Management (PBRM) Director Tom Ashe are pleased to announce that as of today, Thursday, August 1, 2024 the newly constructed splash pad at Greenleaf Park is now open and available to use and enjoy for the remainder of the season.
Greenleaf Park, located on Parker Street near the corner of Wilbraham Road, is the newest park in Springfield to be equipped with a splash pad/spray deck, making a total of 24 splash pads at parks throughout the city. Soon, Greenleaf will also be home to new pickleball courts too.
Mayor Sarno states, “Summer is in full swing and now we have an additional splash pad open and ready for our children and families to enjoy and beat the heat this summer. I want to thank PBRM Director Tom Ashe and his dedicated team for their efforts in preparing our park facilities for the many great programs we have this summer. From our splash pads and aquatics programs to our Concerts and Movies in the Park, and our open gym programs – we love to see residents taking advantage and having some summer fun!”
PBRM Director Tom Ashe stated, “We are very proud of our beautiful parks and love to see families utilizing splash pads and pools during the summer. I am forever grateful to our dedicated Parks staff who make these programs possible and to Mayor Sarno for his strong support for our parks and neighborhoods. We are looking forward to more work being completed at Greenleaf soon and very happy that we can have this new splash pad up and running during these hot summer days. On behalf of the Parks Department, we wish everyone a wonderful, safe, and healthy summer.”
