Pride Parade is thrilled to announce the 2024 Safe Space Summer Program, designed to provide a supportive, enriching, and fun environment for the youth of our community. This program is brought to you in collaboration with Springfield College, Springfield Department of Health & Human Services, and Baystate Medical Center, reflecting our shared commitment to holistic youth development.
• Location: Springfield College - Locklin Hall (263 Alden St Springfield, MA 01109), Rooms 231 & 232
• Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1 PM - 6 PM
• Duration: July 16th - August 22nd, 2024
Key Features of the Program:
1. Social Emotional Learning: Our program is grounded in evidence-based social emotional learning strategies, fostering essential skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship building, and responsible decision-making.
2. Safe and Inclusive Environment: We aim to create a safe and inclusive space where youth can freely express themselves, build self-confidence, and form healthy relationships.
3. Fun and Engaging Activities: Participants will enjoy a variety of fun and interactive on-site activities, including seminars, college exposure sessions, and experiential learning visits/field trips designed to make learning enjoyable and engaging.
4. Community Engagement: Our focus is on fostering a sense of community engagement and belonging, encouraging participants to contribute positively to their community.
5. Support and Resources: Meals will be provided during program hours, ensuring that all participants have the necessary resources to fully engage in the program.
The mission is to walk together in a community-driven movement of support, inclusivity, and public recognition, reminding our LGBTQIA+ youth that they are safe, loved and not alone. This program is FREE for all public school students in the greater Springfield area in grades 9-12.
