Mayor Domenic J. Sarno proclaims Friday, June 21st, 2024, as Boston Celtics Day in the City of Springfield.
The Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship symbolically on June 17, 2024 at TD Garden in City of Boston.
The Celtics won their 18th championship, the most in NBA history. The City of Springfield is the proud birthplace of Basketball, and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, and we are excited to bring the championship back to Massachusetts. Congratulations to the Boston Celtics!
Basketball continues on with Hooplandia- the Northeast's premier 3x3 basketball tournament- which tips off Friday night at the Eastern State Exposition at 6:00 pm. Springfield Girls and Boys teams, and West Springfield Girls and Boys teams will be going head-to-head in the Battle of the Springfield's to win the Mayor's Cup.
