While Mercy Medical Center is mixing up the batter and the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department is finishing up the bacon, portions of Main Street in Downtown Springfield will be closed to allow for the set-up for the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast.
On Friday, May 17, 2024, at 10am, barricades will be placed at Main Street intersections at Bridge Street and at State Street. Traffic will be allowed to cross Main Street from Boland Way to Harrison Avenue, and travel down Court Street to City Hall Place and back to East Columbus Avenue. There will be “no parking” signs posted in the area starting on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
On Saturday, May 18, 2204, at 4am, Main Street from State Street to Bridge Street, Boland Way and Harrison Avenue, Court Street, and City Hall Place will close to traffic. The streets will reopen around 3pm, and after the Spirit of Springfield, with the support of hundreds of volunteers, has served the World’s Largest Pancake breakfast.
The World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by MGM Springfield, will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 8AM to 11AM on Main Street in Downtown Springfield. Breakfast, featuring pancakes, bacon, coffee, juice, milk, and water, will be $3 for adults and children are $1. John Doleva, President of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, will serve as the event’s Honorary Chair.
