Springfield Public Schools, alongside over 100 partnering organizations and agencies will host the 2nd Annual Family Expo on Saturday, May 4th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Held at the MassMutual Center, this event aims to foster connections within the community, highlight collective creativity, and celebrate Springfield's greatest strength – its diversity.
The Family Expo will feature an array of resources, with a list of community partners ranging from healthcare and education to creative expression and entrepreneurship. Attendees can enjoy vibrant artwork and live performances by local youth, and raffle prizes and giveaways will also add to the fun.
Springfield Public Schools Chief of Family and Community Engagement Jose Escribano initiated the Expo last year to promote unity. “Our city thrives on its beautiful, supportive, and diverse community. This event not only celebrates that but also propels us forward,” said Escribano. He pointed to the collaboration among organizations and individuals and their roles in advancing the “connect, create and celebrate” theme of this year’s expo.
Pointing to the Community Music School of Springfield as a prime example, Escribano highlighted the transformative impact of such partnerships on Springfield's youth and families. “CMMS epitomizes the power of collaboration in nurturing Springfield's future generations. They pave the way, particularly as we implement the community's 'Portrait of a Graduate,' emphasizing deep community engagement,” he said.
The Family Expo is free and open to the public, with registration required. Families can register through their student's principal or by visiting the SPS website at www.springfieldpublicschools.com.
