John Boyle O’Reilly Club Celebrates Grand Opening of Outdoor Pavilion

|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Congressman Richard Neal joined with the John Boyle O’Reilly Club to celebrate the grand opening of their Outdoor Pavilion on Sunday, April 28. City Council President Attorney Michael Fenton, City Councilor Tim Allen, State Senator Jacob Oliveria and many members and supports of the JBO were also in attendance.

The John Boyle O'Reilly Club, the home of Irish culture, tradition and family in Western Massachusetts since 1880, was awarded funding through the Sarno administration’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Outdoor Dinning Program, administered by the Office of Planning & Economic Development (OPED). The Outdoor Dining program offered grants between $25,000 and $250,000 towards the creation of new spaces or substantial rehabilitation of existing spaces for outdoor dining. During the 12th round of the American Rescue Plan Act, the John Boyle O’Reilly Club was awarded $250,000 towards the creation of the new outdoor dining pavilion.

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to the iconic John Boyle O’Reilly Club on the grand opening of their brand-new outdoor pavilion. This is a wonderful addition to a great club. The JBO is such a staple for our Irish community, and our Springfield community as a whole. I am excited to see the finished results of this project, and proud of my administration for the continued efforts in supporting small business, new businesses, and non-profits to not only help these establishments survive and stabilize during the COVID-19 pandemic but now to thrive.”
