Mayor Domenic J. Sarno today issued a proclamation to celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated and recognized around the globe.
Mayor Sarno stated, "Happy Earth Day! We all need to take pride and do our part to keep all areas of our beautiful city clean. This simple effort starts with one and makes for a cleaner, healthier, and safer Springfield, state, country and world. Keeping the Earth clean is in our hands- 'pick-up' and be an everyday proud leader."
