Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and city officials met today with MGM Resorts International CEO and President Bill Hornbuckle and MGM Springfield President and COO Louis Theros to discuss recently published reports of a possible sale of MGM Springfield. This is an ongoing process and there will be further communication and dialogue with regards to any possible sale.
Mayor Sarno states, “My number one priority is to protect the taxpayers of the city of Springfield. It is imperative that every aspect of our Host Community Agreement (HCA) is met and adhered to and that Springfield will receive every dollar it is owed in accordance with the HCA. Additionally, I will insist that the quality of entertainment and all other amenities are fulfilled as provided for in the HCA. I have been in contact with Jordan Maynard, Interim Chair for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, to make it clear that we expect our HCA to be honored.”
