|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno wished Assunta ‘Sue’ Messier a happy and healthy retirement today. Sue, a longtime dedicated employee at CVS on Belmonte Ave, is retiring after a distinguished 42-year career. Mayor Sarno presented Sue with a special proclamation declaring Tuesday, March 5, 2024 (her retirement date) as ‘Assunta ‘Sue’ Messier Day’ in the City of Springfield. Sue was joined with her loving family and beloved grandchildren.

Mayor Sarno states, ‘Assunta ‘Sue’ Messier is such a sweet-heart; a kind and caring person who was always helpful and patient with her customers.  She epitomized what customer service is all about with that smile on her face and was always very knowledgeable and thoughtful to her customers.  A testament of this was when CVS held a special farewell to celebrate her on her retirement at the store, her loving customers came from all over to wish her well and to thank her for her years of dedicated service!  My family and I also shop at the CVS at the X to do some of our shopping and Sue was always there to help out in any way she could.  Sue, what an amazing career you had – 42 years!  On behalf of the City of Springfield, I want to wish you a happy and well-deserved retirement and continued good health!  Sue is looking forward to spending more time with her family, especially her loving husband Louis who she has been married to for a wonderful 52 years, and her five grandchildren.”
