Mayor Domenic J. Sarno’s Historic Sixth Inaugural Events Announced

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Judy Matt, President of Spirit of Springfield, announced today the details for Mayor Sarno’s historic sixth inaugural events that will begin Sunday, December 31st, 2023, and conclude Friday, January 5th, 2024. Mayor Sarno is the longest-serving mayor in the City of Springfield’s 388-year history. All celebratory events are free and open to the public.

  • Prior to the formal Inauguration ceremony, a Mass of Celebration will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Mayor Sarno’s home parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William Street.
  • Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and City Council Inauguration Ceremony will be held on Monday, January 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mahogany Room, Springfield Symphony Hall.
  • Festivities will continue Monday evening, January 1st, 2024, with a special Family Celebration with free admission to Bright Nights at Springfield’s Forest Park from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.  Visitors will be greeted and thanked by Mayor Sarno and family.
  • The Inaugural Gala will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2024 from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the new Marriott Springfield Downtown.
