|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood, City Solicitor Judge John Payne, Deputy City Solicitor Kathleen Breck and Chief of Staff Tom Ashe sat down and met with Kathleen O’Toole, President and founder of O’Toole Associates, to discuss updates on the Springfield Police Department’s progress and compliance with the DOJ agreement. The Compliance Evaluator was mutually selected by the City of Springfield, Springfield Police Department and the Department of Justice to act as an independent agent of the Court and who will assess and report whether the requirements of the DOJ agreement are being implemented.

Mayor Sarno states, “We had a good and productive meeting with Kathleen O’Toole.  We were able to share with her our continued advancement and progress in the various programs, initiatives and policies to enhance our Springfield Police Department.  Under the steadfast leadership of Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood, our Springfield Police Department has embraced numerous reforms and policies, including becoming the first police department in the Commonwealth to utilize body-worn cameras for all officers.  I am confident that our continued positive progress to enhance our police-community relations and public safety aspects is appreciated by the Compliance Evaluator.”
