|   Community News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “I am so proud of the students and faculty at the Community Music School of Springfield for representing the city of Springfield at the Statehouse Tree Lighting Ceremony. It is an honor to travel to Boston and perform for Governor Maura Healey and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll. It was a wonderful and heart-warming performance, and a great way to kick-off the holiday season by spreading the holiday spirit and message of peace. Congratulations to the students, staff, and families at the Community Music School of Springfield on a job well done.”

Watch the performance below:

Children’s Chorus of Springfield is directed by Community Music School of Springfield (CMSS) vocal faculty Laurie Ellington, and includes over 50 young people from Springfield and the surrounding areas ages 6-18. Willow Street Chorus is for the youngest singers, grade 1-4, Neighborhood Chorus for grades 5-8 and City Chorus for singers grade 9 and up. Singing in a chorus is a joyful experience, one that combines creativity and self-expression with the ability to build skills and memories that last a lifetime. In addition to singing great music with beautiful tone and musical and artistic sensitivity, CCS students grow in confidence, have opportunities to collaborate, and perform within and outside of Springfield.
