Mayor Domenic J. Sarno was thrilled to receive a surprise visit from long-time good family friends Dan Burke and his son Patrick Burke today.
Mayor Sarno stated, “Dan Burke and his family are truly great people and good friends. I was so happy to see Dan today who came by with his son Patrick for a surprise visit. I worked for Dan at the Hampden County Workforce Assistance Center back in the early to mid 1990’s, where we helped hundreds of people get retrained and re-enter the workforce during tough economic times. Both Dan and Pat Burke were fantastic baseball and basketball players at Cathedral High School and we had fun reminiscing on Dan’s playing and refereeing days. Dan also coached our Springfield youth and had the pleasure of coaching Springfield’s own Travis Best in his youth. Dan, always a gentleman and just a great person, thank you and your son Patrick for this surprise visit – you made my day.”
