Mayor Sarno states, “I cannot thank Bob ‘The Bike Guy’ Charland enough for his generosity to our youth, especially our Springfield Public School students, during this holiday season. I fondly remember when Bob first started this wonderful endeavor. He had reached out to me and the City for assistance early on asking for space to help store bikes he could fix up and give away. His passion is truly commendable and an inspiration. The work he and his team have done is truly heartwarming – putting smiles on our kids and community faces. Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi, City Council President Jesse Lederman and Police Deputy Chief Rubert Daniels joined with members of the Springfield Police Department and Hampden County Sheriff's Department to help Bob ‘The Bike Guy’ Charland as he donated over 100 bikes and Lego’s to students at the Emergence Academy at the Mayor’s alma mater the High School of Commerce on Friday, December 8th.
