Mayor Sarno states, “My administration is proud to support and facilitate another first for our Springfield, as this is Panera Breads first Springfield location. This new fast casual restaurant, located where the former Albano’s Market and Bob Weiner Tire used to stand, will create around 35 to 40 jobs and offer their famous soups, sandwiches and salads, while complementing our South End amenities and being conducive to the neighborhood. Along with the abutting Starbucks and Burger King, and the new 40 home-ownership townhouse development project that we announced yesterday, our South End neighborhood is alive and thriving.”
Picknelly emphasized that this new restaurant will address one of the needs that was outlined in the Springfield Thunderbirds’ $126 million economic impact study that was previously announced – more dining options on game nights.
Construction is slated to begin in the coming weeks with an anticipated grand opening in the fall of 2024.
In addition, checks were presented to Square One President and CEO Dawn DiStefano, and Steven Nagle and the Mayflower Marathon, to support their wonderful programs.
