|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno attended and brought greetings at the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the exhibitor hall for the New England Library Association’s Annual Conference. The Conference, which hosts about 400 library workers from across New England, is held annual to address important issues to the library community.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank the New England Library Association for hosting their annual conference here in the City of Springfield.  Special shoutout to Springfield Public Library Director Molly Fogarty and Assistant Director Jean Canosa Albano for their dedication and efforts in helping to organize this conference and for everything they do day-in and day-out for our public libraries.  My administration is proud of the fact that while other communities are closing or reducing their local public libraries, Springfield is not only expanding, enhancing and keeping our neighborhood library branches open and the wonderful programs going strong, but we also built a brand new and state-of-the-art neighborhood library in East Forest Park.  Again, thank you to the New England Library Association for choosing Springfield to host your 2023 annual conference and we hope to see you again in the future.”
