The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission invites you to an Open House at West Parish Filters Water Treatment Plant to mark Imagine a Day Without Water, a national day of advocacy and education about the value of water.

Explore the past, present, and future of your drinking water at West Parish Filters, the site of drinking water treatment for the Springfield region since 1909.
Open House Facility Tours
Tours will depart from the West Parish Filters Treatment Plant lobby every 15-30 minutes (depending on demand), and will show:
-Slow Sand Filters constructed in the 1920s
-Rapid Sand Filters constructed in 1974 – the primary filtration method used today
-New $25 million Backwash Facility
And learn about the new West Parish Water Treatment Plant, currently at 90% design with construction scheduled to begin in 2024.
Light refreshments will be available. Children are welcome with supervision (ages 5+ recommended) and “Trick or Treatment” Halloween treats will be offered.
