Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined today at Tower Square with State Representative Carlos Gonzalez, State Representative Mike Finn, and our Indian American community to raise the Flag of India in celebration of 76 years of independence in India.
Mayor Sarno stated, “I am so grateful to our friends in Springfield’s Indian Community, especially my friends Dinesh Patel and Raj Rayonia, for hosting these vibrant and colorful celebrations to mark the 76th anniversary of Indian Independence. It was an honor to be at Tower Square today to join in raising the Flag of India and be part of such a beautiful ceremony. Our Springfield has long been home to a thriving Indian community and we are proud to join them to celebrate their heritage, culture, and independence.”
