Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief Development Officer Tim Sheehan, and Springfield Redevelopment Authority Director Amanda Pham joined today at the MassMutual Center with board of directors officials from the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA), MassMutual Center officials, Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau President Mary-Kate Wydra, MGM Springfield President Chris Kelley, Springfield Business Improvement District Executive Director Michelle Grout, and MassMutual Center General Manager Sean Dolan for an update on a long-term strategic planning.
Mayor Sarno stated, “My administration has had a great working relationship with MCCA Executive Director David Gibbons and this team. Soon we will have a new state of the art Civic Center Garage and a new direct entry way on the corner of State and Main streets to our MassMutual Center.”
Mayor Sarno continued, “The MassMutual Center has played a key role in the strengthening of our downtown, our city, and our region. Record numbers of visitors are coming to a diverse line up of events and performances right here in the heart of our downtown Springfield. The multiplier effects from this positive economic growth can be seen and felt throughout the region. I commend the MCCA, my development team including CDO Tim Sheehan and SRA Director Amanda Pham, and all our partners who continue to support the growth of our Springfield. There is more work to do and we are planning and preparing for the future growth and development of our community.”
