Mayor Sarno and City Councilors attend Grand Opening of ZaZa Green Dispensary

|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, City Council President Jesse Lederman, and Councilors Kateri Walsh, Melvin Edwards and Lavar Click-Bruce attended the grand opening of ZaZa Green Dispensary at 311 Page Blvd. on Friday, July 27th. Kathy Brown and members of the East Springfield Neighborhood Council were also present.

ZaZa Green Dispensary is a retail cannabis dispensary that was approved for state licensure by the State Cannabis Control Commission and holds a local host community agreement with the City of Springfield.  The 7,200 square ft. facility includes a cannabis area and community rooms.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank the team at ZaZa Green Dispensary for their continued belief and investment in our Springfield.  Even though the COVID-19 pandemic delayed their grand opening their perseverance never wavered and they are now ready to open their doors for business.  I am proud of my administration’s efforts in negotiating strong but fair community host agreements with all of our retail cannabis facilities.  Their strong business models have not saturated our Springfield market.  While we hear reports of other cannabis retail stores closing across the state, our Springfield stores continue to thrive, with some even winning major awards in the industry.”

“This is all about that good four-letter word, JOBS!” added Mayor Sarno.  “ZaZa will employ 24 good jobs with employees from the greater Springfield area.  This minority owned and controlled cannabis dispensary has a very diverse workforce and they are committed to supporting our East Springfield neighborhood.  They also utilized local contractors during their construction phase too.”
