Mayor Sarno states, “Patrick Sullivan and I cannot thank Sheriff Nick Cocchi and his dedicated crews enough. From our unique partnership with their Sheriff Patrols in Forest Park in support of our Springfield Police Department, to the numerous community outreach initiatives in our neighborhoods and the various municipal projects they assist on, all of it is simply tremendous. The restoration of our beautiful trolley pavilion is advancing smoothly and we have reached the 50% complete phase. I wanted to personally take a moment to go up to the pavilion to thank Ray Rivera from Sheriff’s Department and the entire Sheriff’s crew for their efforts. They did a beautiful job painting the pavilion – it looks better then ever. My administration is looking forward to holding a special ribbon cutting ceremony once this project is complete. Stay tuned for more good news to come.”
Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi said the correctional staff painting on Thursday were there as part of a department-wide initiative that focuses on mental health and overall wellness.
“As we continue to focus on officer wellness, recognizing that the work we do can cause stress that builds up over time, we’ve been offering volunteer days of community service to the correctional staff,” said Sheriff Nick Cocchi. “Our team from the Western Mass. Recovery Center truly enjoyed giving back and helping beautify Forest Park. And we are proud to work alongside Mayor Domenic Sarno’s team and lend a hand in any way we can.”
