Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with UMass Amherst Extension Professor Michael Perla Di Pasquale and Landscape Architecture and Planning students today to welcome them to Springfield and discuss planning and architecture in urban centers.
Mayor Sarno stated, “Many people will tell you what you cannot accomplish in an urban center. Thanks to forward thinking students and faculty at the UMass Center with a problem-solving mind-set, we have been able to accomplish great projects. Professor Michael Perla Di Pasquale was instrumental in the completion of the UMass Amherst Design Center in Springfield and later, the “Make-It Springfield” collaborative maker space in the city’s downtown business district. We are proud partners in their work here in Springfield which has created opportunities for our urban center and continues to help us grow. Thanks too all the students for being here in Springfield today and keep up the great work.”
