Mayor Sarno welcomes former state Treasurer and Receiver-General Steve Grossman

|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief Development Officer Tim Sheehan and Chief of Staff Tom Ashe welcomed former Treasurer and Receiver-General of Massachusetts Steve Grossman to Springfield today. Mayor Sarno and former state Treasurer Grossman had a very positive and productive working relationship during his time in office, especially serving and overseeing the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), which the Sarno Administration has continued to partner with and invest over $750 million into building new schools and rehabilitating and renovating existing schools, the most in the Commonwealth.

Mayor Sarno states, “Always a pleasure to welcome my good friend, former state Treasurer Steve Grossman.  Our relationship is very positive and productive and I cannot thank him and his staff enough for partnering with my administration during his time in office as our state Treasurer.  Under his leadership, especially overseeing the MSBA, helped to kick off our major local investment into our public schools to the tune of over $750 million, the most in the State, by building new state-of-the-art schools, such as Brightwood-Lincoln and the soon to be DeBerry-Swan schools.  Steve, always the gentleman, is a very smart and humble individual who always remembered where his family got their start in business from a loan from a Boston Bank and credit from the U.S. Envelope Co. right here in Springfield.  Always in his DNA, has been helping small businesses thrive.  Stay tuned as former Treasurer Grossman, CDO Tim Sheehan and I continue to build upon this relationship with another small business assistance initiative announcement.”
