Cassandra Sarno, daughter of Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and teacher for Junior Achievement of Western MA, represented her father and presented mayoral citations to recognize a group of students for their hard work and community involvement at Junior Achievement of Western MA 18 Under 18 Awards event at Tower Square on Thursday, May 18th. The event, sponsored by Teddy Bear Pools, provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding young people throughout Western Massachusetts and honor these up-and-comers who exemplify innovative spirit, leadership and community involvement.

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to all of the awardees that were honored at Junior Achievement of Western MA’s 18 Under 18 event.  All of these students that were honored are truly amazing and outstanding individuals that are very engaged with our community, both in and out of the classroom.  Thank you to President Jennifer Connolly and the dedicated staff for putting on this great program and recognizing these students.  Special thanks to my daughter, Cassie, for representing me.  She has been involved with this wonderful organization since 2012, teaching to our eight grade students at our Duggan Academy.  Congratulations to all the students being recognized – they have a very bright future and everyone is very proud of them and their achievements and accomplishments.”
