|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, White Lions Brewing Company Owner Ray Berry and our Springfield Thunderbirds welcomed Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin to Springfield on Friday, May 12th. Mayor Sarno honored his friendly wager with Mayor Bronin during the AHL Calder Cup Playoff Series between the Springfield Thunderbirds and the Hartford Wolf Pack, which the Wolf Pack won, by presenting Mayor Bronin with some of Springfield’s hometown beer from White Lion Brewery and having pizza and food from Springfield’s renowned and iconic Red Rose Pizzeria.

Mayor Sarno states, “I am a man of my word and welcomed Mayor Luke Bronin to Springfield to honor my friendly wager from our T-Birds best of 3 Calder Cup playoff series against our rivals down I-91, the Hartford Wolf Pack.  Unfortunately, our T-Birds came up short and were knocked out of the playoffs – we’ll get’em next year.  Congratulations to the Wolf Pack, who also defeated the Providence Bruins to advance and now take on the Hershey Bears, and to Mayor Bronin.  I want to thank Springfield Thunderbirds President Nate Costa and his dedicated T-Birds team including Boomer, and White Lions Owner Ray Berry for welcoming Mayor Bronin.  Special shoutout to Rita and Tony Caputo and the incredible staff at our renowned and iconic Red Rose Pizzeria for hosting us.  Simply put, their pizza, food, and hospitality was fantastic as usual – we all had a great time!”
