Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined this morning with Spirit of Springfield President Judy Matt, Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood, Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi, MGM Springfield President and COO Chris Kelley, Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi, and Bishop William Byrne as the Spirit of Springfield prepares for the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast with over 1,000 pounds of bacon being cooked by our Hampden County Sheriff’s Department (HCSD). The bacon, which was generously donated by Smithfield Packaged Meats, will first be cooked by the HCSD before it is delivered to MGM Springfield where it will be warmed for the annual pancake breakfast party on Saturday, May 13th, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am on Main Street. Mayor Sarno and crew also surprised Superintendent Clapprood with a cake for her birthday, baked by MGM Executive Chef Omar Echeverria Santos.

We will be celebrating Springfield's 387th birthday this weekend at the annual Pancake Breakfast and today we got to surprise our Springfield Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood and 2023 Pancake Breakfast Chair for her birthday baked by MGM’s own Chef Omar.
