Mayor Sarno, CDO Sheehan and Housing Director McCafferty meet with Rabbi James Greene, new CEO for Jewish Family Services

|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief Development Officer Tim Sheehan and Housing Director Gerry McCafferty met with Rabbi James Greene, new CEO for Jewish Family Services of Western Massachusetts today. Rabbi Greene took over as the new CEO in January 2023. Previous he worked at the Jewish Community Center on Dickinson Street for many years.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Rabbi James Greene for taking the time to meet with CDO Tim Sheehan, Housing Director Gerry McCafferty and myself.  We had a good discussion on how Jewish Family Services can help to enhance our Springfield and surround communities through communication, mutual respect and partnerships to provide those in need with the services and resources to help.  I stressed to Rabbi Greene that Springfield is a loving, caring and compassionate city, and that my administration continues to help and support those in need – our school district refuses no child and we take in all in need no matter their situation.  We do what we can to help those in need, especially for our Springfield residents, but we are at capacity.  We need our surrounding communities to also step up and do their fair share to assist and work with organizations such as Jewish Family Services, to help provide those in need with the resources, programs and initiatives to they need.  I look forward to working with Rabbi Greene on finding a plausible solution where every community steps up to do their fair share.”
