Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Westfield Mayor Michael A. McCabe, and Bruce Adams on behalf of State Representative Angelo J. Puppolo joined with Family Pizzeria Europa Restaurant today to celebrate their 50 Years in business in our Springfield community.
Mayor Sarno presented the Buonfiglio family patriarch Mr. Gennaro Buonfiglio with a proclamation declaring today “Family Pizza Day,” as well as a key to the city. Mayor McCabe (who worked at Family Pizza Westfield many years ago) also presented a proclamation along with Mr. Adams on behalf of Rep. Puppolo. Gennaro Buonfiglio started the business 50 years ago with his late wife Yolanda on Dickinson Street, and with his four daughters Diana, Rosa, Yolanda, Joanna, and extended family it has continued to become a success for multiple generations.
Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to the Buonfiglio family on running a successful business for 50 years. Gennaro epitomizes, through pride and hard work, the immigrant experience of an American success story.
