Mayor Sarno and City Councilor Fenton Recognize Pope Francis Preparatory School’s Basketball, Hockey and Soccer Teams for Championships

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and City Councilor Attorney Michael Fenton stopped by Pope Francis Preparatory School today to recognize the Boys Basketball, Hockey and Girls Soccer teams for winning their respective championships. The schools Hockey team won the MIAA State Division I Championship, the Boys Basketball team won the Western Mass Class A Championship, and the Girls Soccer team won the Western Mass Class C Championship.

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to the Pope Francis Boys Basketball, Hockey and Girls Soccer teams for winning their respective championships.  Your hard work both in and out of the classroom has paid off and on behalf of the city of Springfield we want to acknowledge and recognize their accomplishments.  The city of Springfield, along with your family, friends, coaches, teachers and faculty at Pope Francis are all very proud of you!  Keep up the good work!”

Mayor Sarno presented each team with a special proclamation recognizing them for winning their sports championship.  He also presented each of the players with their own individual citations.  In addition, for winning the State MIAA Division I Championship, Mayor Sarno presented the Pope Francis Hockey team with the key to the city.
