Ford, on behalf of Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, presented Benjamin with a special mayoral proclamation declaring Thursday, April 13th, 2023 as “Benjamin Roman Brunson Day” in the city of Springfield.

Mayoral Aide Shenell Ford and members from the Springfield Police Department joined with Rebecca M. Johnson Principal Chris Sutton and staff, to surprise Ms. Donna Swift’s 2nd grade student, Benjamin Roman Brunson, with a custom-built bike presented by Bob ‘The Bike Guy’ Charland and the Hampden Country Sheriff’s Department. Benjamin was born with a rare genetic disorder called Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome due to a chromosomal deletion. Although Benjamin has this syndrome, he enjoys being around people and is a huge fan of Batman.
