Mayor Domenic J. Sarno was thrilled to join with Mrs. Sarah Switzer and students in her Italian class at West Springfield High School via zoom today. Mayor Sarno, who’s parents immigrated to America from Italy, is first-generation, conversational in Italian and chatted with students today in both English and Italian. Mayor Sarno answered questions about his family background and traditions, growing up in Springfield, his first car, and being Mayor.
Mayor Sarno states, “Grazie to Mrs. Switzer and all her Italian language students – those right here in western Mass and over in Italy. It was great to be with you on zoom today, I enjoyed chatting with you all and practicing my Italian too. Thanks for having me, and ‘Bouno fortuna’ this semester!”
