Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with members of the Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade Committee and Springfield’s Irish community on Saturday for the 2023 Colleen Coronation and Awards Presentation Ball held at the Springfield Sheraton Monarch Place Hotel.
Siobhan Cullen, President of Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade Committee welcomed everyone to the ball and was also this year’s Paul G. Caron Award winner. Kerri Sullivan, a member of the Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade Committee and the 2003 Springfield Colleen, served as the mistress of ceremonies. Mayor “O’Sarno” was honored to join, donned in his Springfield Tartan tie, and give remarks. Kathy Tobin introduced each of the five Colleen finalists and their escorts and invited them individually on stage to answer the most important question of the evening – why do you want to be Springfield Colleen? Bill Egan and the Rising provided Irish music and the Black Rose Academy of Irish Dance performed traditional Irish step dancing.
Mayor Sarno states, “This was a beautiful night with so much to be proud of. Thank you to the Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade Committee for having me and for always welcoming me into your important cultural traditions. I am looking forward to more celebrations to come.”
