Mayor Sarno Joins Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Stepping Stones Group Autism Treatment Center

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined today for a special ribbon cutting ceremony for the Stepping Stones Group Autism Treatment Center at 136 Williams Street. Mayor Sarno was pleased to meet Stepping Stones CEO Tim Murphy, who served as the Secretary of Health and Human Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under Governor Mitt Romney. The Stepping Stones Group has treatment centers across the country and this is the first location to open here in Massachusetts.

Mayor Sarno states, “My administration is proud to help bring awareness to support those with Autism in the city of Springfield. Thank you to CEO Tim Murphy and the team at Stepping Stones Group for having me and our families with children affected by autism today to see your beautiful new space which has a very comfortable and ‘homey’ atmosphere. We are grateful for all your continued efforts and the many services provided that support our families who are affected by Autism. I want to also thank Stepping Stones for their belief and investment in our Springfield. This center will create at nearly 40 new, full-time and good paying jobs, and just as important provide positive economic spinoff effects. I am also happy to say that since taking office, I have proudly held Autism awareness events right here in City Hall and display a blue light bulb in support of those with Autism on the first floor of City Hall that illuminates the beautiful Autism art work that we have proudly displayed for all to see right here at Springfield City Hall.”
