|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Health and Human Services (HHS) Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris will join with Lori Swanson, Executive Director for the TJO Animal Control and Adoption Center, to thank and recognize Springfield residents Jan and Bernadette Piepul for their continued support and generous donation to the Shelter. Thanks to their generous donation, and support for others in the community, to the Foundation for TJO Animals, the Shelter was able to purchase X-Ray equipment and create a Radiology Room to care for the animals that visit and stay at the Adoption Shelter.

Jan and Bernadette, longtime supporters of our TJO Animal Control and Adoption Center, generously helped to support the Foundation for TJO Animals and the TJO Center by donating $23,000.  $10,000 was graciously donated towards the purchase of an X-Ray machine, and $13,000 was donated to help with the construction costs of the new Radiology Room at the TJO Center, which was dedicated to the Piepul’s and their beloved German Shephard Nikki.

Mayor Sarno stated, “HHS Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, TJO Executive Director Lori Swanson and I cannot thank Jan and Bernadette Piepul enough for their continued support and very generous donation of our TJO Animal Control and Adoption Center.  Thanks to their efforts, along with the many other supporters to the Foundation for TJO Animals, we were able to purchase much-needed X-Ray equipment and create a vital Radiology Room to help care for the animals that find themselves at the Shelter.  TJO Executive Director Lori Swanson and her dedicated staff do such a wonderful job caring for the animals at the shelter for adoption and making sure that they are healthy and ready to find a loving family to take them home.”
