The City of Springfield celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a special ceremony on Monday, January 16th at the MassMutual Center

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno brought greetings and the golden voice of Springfield Vanessa Ford performed along with students from the Community Music School to commemorate the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

City Council President Jesse Lederman and Councilors Tim Allen and Justin Hurst, State Representatives Bud Williams and Carlos Gonzalez, State Senators Adam Gomez and Jacob Oliveira, School Committee members LaTonia Monroe-Naylor and Joesiah Gonzalez, Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia and many spiritual and community leaders were among those in attendance.

The event was organized in part by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Services; Community Music School of Springfield; Springfield College; Inclusive Strategies, LLC; Legacy Sounds; Springfield Cultural Partnership; Focus Springfield; Urban League of Springfield; and the city of Springfield and the Springfield Public Schools.
