|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno visited with Seniors at Duggan Academy on Monday, December 19th to discuss and take questions on the importance of education and the career opportunities that become available. Mayor Sarno shared his own personal experience attending Springfield Public Schools.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Principal Michael Calvanese and Counselor Vianni Gomez, Mr. Anderson and the dedicated teachers and staff at Duggan Academy for their continued efforts on behalf of our students.  It was great to visit with the seniors at Duggan and talk about the importance that a good education can bring and the many opportunities it could provide.  I am a proud product of our Springfield Public Schools, High School of Commerce graduate Class of 1981, and shared with these young and bright students my own personal experience growing up.  I want to encouraged them to continue to learn and advance their education be it in a college or university, a trade school, military service or opening their own business.  The possibilities are endless and the sky is the limit for these bright and talented young minds.  Never let your zip code dictate your future – you continue to dictate your future.”
