Mayor Sarno Issues Statement on the Passing of Iconic Youth Development Advocate Art Jones

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “First of all, my sympathy, thoughts, prayers and encouragement to the family and friends of Art Jones. I was very sadden to hear about Art’s passing and had spoken to his son Todd a number of times during these trying times. Art was always the gentleman and so well respected. He was a mentor to hundreds if not thousands of our youths through his efforts with the Springfield Boys and Girls Club, in which I would refer to as ‘The Godfather’ of the Boys and Girls Club too! And, of course, his efforts to create ‘The Black Men of Greater Springfield, to continue to facilitate more educational opportunities for our youths too. My friend, you will be missed, but rest assure, your legacy will continue. May God rest your soul.”
