Eversource Gas Company of Massachusetts, doing business as Eversource Energy, is proposing to build a new pipeline to carry natural gas from a location in Longmeadow to a location in Springfield. The new pipeline would be 5.3 miles long, 16 inches in diameter, and would be installed under streets near you. In addition, Eversource Energy proposes to construct new gas delivery equipment next to the interstate pipeline at property by the Longmeadow County Club. Finally, Eversource Energy plans to make modifications to its existing regulator station in Springfield. The work of installing the pipeline -- and connecting the two ends to existing facilities -- is called the “Western Massachusetts Gas Reliability Project.” The attached information identifies where Eversource Energy proposes to construct the Project.
Eversource Gas must receive approval from the Energy Facilities Siting Board (the “Siting Board”) to construct the Project. More information about the Project, and instructions on commenting on the Project or getting involved in reviewing the Project, is enclosed.
