Mayor Sarno and CDO Sheehan attend Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Duc-Pac’s new Springfield Facility

|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief Development Officer (CDO) Tim Sheehan, Deputy Director Brian Connors and East Springfield Neighborhood Council President Kathy Brown attended a special ribbon cutting ceremony for the Duc-Pac Corp. as they open their new steel-duct fabrication company location in Springfield. Owners Greg and Heidi Merchant are relocating their fourth-generation family run business to Springfield from East Longmeadow and will bring 66 good paying jobs to the City with a majority of the workforce being Springfield residents.

Mayor Sarno states, “CDO Tim Sheehan and I are proud to welcome the Greg and Heidi Merchant and their Duc-Pac Corp. family to the City of Springfield.  I want to thank Duc-Pac Corp. for their belief and investment in Springfield.  I also want to thank CDO Tim Sheehan, Deputy Director Brian Connors and East Springfield Neighborhood Council President Kathy Brown for working not only with Duc-Pac Corp., but also with the City Council for approving the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) agreement I submitted to them in 2021 for their approval to help bring this steel fabrication company to Springfield from East Longmeadow.  Duc-Pac Corp. has invested in our city by purchasing the facility at 1125 Page Blvd. for their new headquarters and operations for $3.7 million and they invested another $1.5 million into improving the building and adding new equipment.  This economic development project is a major boon for our Springfield and supports my administration’s efforts to bring in more of that good four-letter word – JOBS!
