Mayor Sarno and City Officials meet with State Cannabis Control Commission Members

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief of Staff Tom Ashe, Associate City Solicitor Talia Gee – who oversees the local cannabis licensing process, and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Judi Crowell met today with members of the State Cannabis Control Commission, including Commissioners Nurys Camargo and Bruce Stebbins; Yaw Gyebi, Jr., Chief of Investigations and Enforcement; and Rebecca Kwakye, Project Coordinator, to discuss updates on the state cannabis law, the Social Equity Program (SEP), and the successful openings of cannabis businesses here in the city of Springfield, of which a number of those selected have been social equity applicants.

Mayor Sarno stated, “I want to thank Commissioner Nurys Camargo and Commissioner Bruce Stebbins, Mr. Yaw Gyebi and Ms. Rebecca Kwakye, for again, meeting with me and my dedicated city team to discuss the Social Equity Program and relevant updates to the State Cannabis law.  The Cannabis Control Commission team also visited with some of our local marijuana establishments to see their business and operations in person.  They spoke very highly of our local marijuana licensing process and provided myself and my city team with an update on the state cannabis law and regulations, including the Social Equity Program, which provides technical assistance and training for eligible applicants and businesses.”
