|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno welcomed Yankee Security to the City of Springfield on Saturday, October 22, 2022, with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at the MassMutual Center. Yankee Security announced that the MassMutual Center and the city of Springfield will be the home for their yearly industry convention for the locksmith industry for years to come. This is the group’s first convention post COVID.

MGM Springfield President and COO Chris Kelley also attended.

Mayor Sarno said, “I want to thank and welcome Yankee Security for choosing the city of Springfield and our MassMutual Center to be the home for their annual convention for the foreseeable future.  Special shoutout to Sean Dolan, General Manager for the MassMutual Center, and Mary Kay Wydra, President of the Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, for showcasing everything the city of Springfield and the MassMutual Center has to offer.  With over 1,000 attendees and over 200 rooms booked at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel, this is yet another major boon for our local economic development efforts.  This 5-day convention of locksmiths and security professionals will get to enjoy not only the activities from the convention but everything the city of Springfield has to offer – from our world-famous Dr. Suess Museum, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, MGM Springfield, and a plethora of restaurants and dining establishments, Springfield has it all.”

“We are extremely honored that Yankee Security has chosen the MassMutual Center and the City of Springfield as their new home,” says General Manager Sean Dolan.  “We look forward to hosting the Yankee Security Convention for years to come and watching their convention continue to grow.”

“After continuing to grow year after year, the Yankee Security Board of Directors felt it was time for a larger venue,” says Yankee Security Director DJ Dabenigno. “After touring several venues, we fell in love with the MassMutual Center and their team. We are excited to be able to continue to grow our show at the MassMutual Center for 2022 and beyond!”

“We are delighted to welcome Yankee Security to Western Mass,” says Mary Kay Wydra, President of the Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “They really made a great choice to relocate their event here where they can look forward to great service from our colleagues at The MassMutual Center and a host of fun things to do in the area before and after their convention.  We look forward to hosting them for a long time to come.”
