Mayor Sarno brings greetings to MACRS Conference

|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno brought greetings to the Massachusetts Association of Contributory Retirement Systems (MACRS) Conference on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Springfield Sheraton. Mayor Sarno also requested a moment of silence for Phil Mantoni, a longtime member of our Retirement Board who recently passed away.

Mayor Sarno stated, “I want to thank the MACRS Board, especially MACRS Treasurer and Chairman of the Springfield Retirement Board, retired Police Lieutenant Robert Moynihan, for holding their Fall Conference here in the City of Springfield.  Special shoutout to team Springfield including Comptroller Pat Burns, Springfield Retirement Board Executive Director Susana Baltazar, Deputy Director Teresa D’Agostino, and former Springfield retirement board member and Hungry Hill resident Connie Sullivan who is now serving on the Easthampton Retirement Board.  The job our retirement boards do for our municipal employees, especially our public safety officials, is complex and multifaceted.  With an ever-changing economic outlook and state retirement laws and pending legislation that could impact the quality of a public employee’s benefits, the importance of advocating for our public employees is of the utmost importance.  Thank you to all of the members of our retirement boards for your dedication and service.”
